Our St. Andrew's Scholarship Recipients

Daniel Wernicke 2008

Daniel was assistant drum major of the Highlander Marching Band and combines his love of music with a passion for math and science. At LHHS, he studied AP American History and Calculus. He was an Impact mentor and active in the Boy Scouts. Daniel is studying engineering at UC Berkeley with an eye on graduate studies at Caltech and a career with NASA.

Elyse Woodruff 2008

Our first second-generation St. Andrew's recipient, Elyse is the daughter of Russ Woodruff '76 and Candace Reichley Woodruff '77. She is an accomplished artist in both visual and performing arts, played French horn as a section leader in both the Highlander Marching Band and the Pacifiic Symphony Youth Orchestra and was active in the Heritage program and as an Impact peer mentor on campus. Elyse is majoring in fine arts and french horn performance at California State University Long Beach.

Jessica Gunnell 2007

Jessica was on honor roll all four years at LHHS. She  played on the tennis team all four years and served as team captain her senior year. She was active as an Impact Mentori, in the Heritage program and on yearbook staff. She lists cake decorating among her hobbies. Jessica is looking towards a career in business management. Matthew Gush 2007

Matthew was in Top 100 and was an Advanced Placement Scholar. He was active as a tutor and his hobbies include art and photography. He was part of the morning announcement staff at LHHS during his senior year. Matthew will be attending California State University Fullerton in the fall and is looking towards a career in communications and broadcast journalism. Jovan Bessette 2006

Jovan was active in computer networking while at LHHS and holds several certificates in a number of computer science skills, including construction, website design and configuration of operating systems. He assisted the school’s network administrator with repair, installation and configuration of computers throughout the campus. He was also a member of the Anime Club and the Video Game Club, for which he organized several game competitions. Jovan is currently studying network and communication management.

Kathleen Lubliner 2006

Kathleen was a member of the Highlander Marching Band and Vocal Ensemble and was in the cast of two LHHS musicals. She was named LHHS and Rotary Student of the Month, earned letters in music as well as academics and was active as a volunteer for Morningstar Christian Chapel and service learning at Macy Elementary School in La Habra. Kathleen is currently studying music education.
