Screen shot 2009-12-09 at 4.21.57 PM.pngAs you know our hosting company, Wild Apricot, held a contest at Facebook recently to name their newly designed mascot. I decided to enter this contest and test just how lively our community would be—and we WON! Winning the Grand Prize speaks volumes.

How many Highlanders actually participated is unknown, but there was a lot more discussion on the voting page where Fuzzy was featured. I was subsequently informed that a land slide victory was secured during the last 2 days of voting.

LHHSAA hopes to hold a similar contest in 2010 to encourage more Highlander fun and interest in The Argyll. We hope you will find this a positive experience.

Thanks to all of you who supported Fuzzy in the spirit of fun which was intended. In case you are curious, the Grand Prize is a Flip Video camera which will be put to good use at Highlander events. If it ships in time, it will be used at the Sing-Along with Mr. D., Saturday, December 19 @ 7pm.

PS: We also won "bragging rights!"

While we are steadily growing, the passing of Coach Tex Wallis has driven increased numbers of Highlanders to our site. Even in his death Coach Wallis is a blessing to LHHSAA. Thanks Coach!

We recognize the Scottish tradition of The Flowers of the Forest, our departed loved ones. The legend comes from the poems telling of the grief of Scottish people after the Battle of Flodden Fields in 1513, in which many brave Scotsmen (the flowers of the forest) fell.

Picture 5.pngMember Photo albums are collections of pictures that you as a registered user or LHHSAA member may upload to your profile. You may either create one big album that contains all your photos, or create up to three albums.

Just log-in to The Argyll and click the "View profile" link in the top-right blue box. From there you will see a link called "Photo album." From there you may create up to three albums.

We think this is a great compliment to reaching fellow Highlanders via Argyll email which was launched six weeks ago. Our community is growing and coming ALIVE!

At long last, we have email!

All registered users—LHHSAA members and Argyll users may now send one-to-one email messages to one another. All you need to do is login. If you cannot login—perhaps you need to register.

Once you login, visit the Attendance Office link found under Senior Park button. Search through our list of over 700 alumni and faculty. Once you select a profile, you will find a "Send message" button next to their name. You won't see their email but you will be able to send them a message as long as they have kept their Argyll profile up-to-date.

In the message, your email address will be visible to the recipient. The recipient may send you their email address in a reply if they choose to do so, but their privacy has not been compromised.

    What's not to love?

Grace_De_Rubeis.jpgWe are sad to report the passing of Mrs. Grace De Rubeis, on Friday afternoon, January 9, 2009.

Always known for being a lady, Mrs. De Rubeis, was the first Home Economics teacher at LHHS working with Walter Pray, Irene Jones, and Don Krebsbach to name only a few.

She is noted for establishing a nursery school with her Child Development class which served future LHHS alumni.

We recognize the Scottish tradition of The Flowers of the Forest, our departed loved ones. The legend comes from the poems telling of the grief of Scottish people after the Battle of Flodden Fields in 1513, in which many brave Scotsmen (the flowers of the forest) fell.
